  1. The problem I’m having with the opposition to the Iran deal is that I don’t understand the alternative. True, it’s a lousy deal. On the other hand, we get almost all of their current enriched uranium, and (an inadequate) inspection regime. That should slow them down – no more.
On the other hand, say we turn down the deal? Sanctions are over. Europe is falling over itself in its eagerness to deal with Iran again. Won’t we just get nothing in its place?
I’d rather slow them down, and maybe the horse will learn to sing.

    1. Who said sanctions are over, Obama? Isn’t that a self serving prediction or did he act to scuttle them as scorched Earth negotiating? Kinda jacked up to treat you own country harsher than Iran.

It is a fatalist’s position to assume they will get nukes either way so just let them through abiding by the deal.

Its a secret deal that no one knows the details of, which makes it no deal at all. How can congress vote on something they can’t even read if they wanted to?

What drives me crazy is the dishonesty, the claims that this stops Iran from getting nuclear weapons when the reality is, centrifuges keep spinning. And also the claims this prevents war rather than make one more likely. And and also the claims this is the best deal that could be had.

      1. Whether it was the best deal they could get I doubt any of us knows. That it is a bad deal I think we all know.
But it does seem that sanctions are over: Europe says so, and we can’t do them on our own. So either tell me that’s not true, or tell me what we should do now, or give me another choice. Just rejecting this deal because we hate it, even if that makes our position yet worse, is not a good answer.
