  1. A solid half of the items seem unintentionally undercutting the liberals own positions.

I mean: ‘Where gays can be fixed’. Well, there are already surgeries for people that feel their physical shape doesn’t mesh with their inner being. Developing a drug that allows a homosexual to choose to become heterosexual seems like a net positive unless you’re thinking the government is the one forcing people to take the pills or get the operations.

And: Oil does fill the seas off California’s coast. There are a couple beaches famous for the oil slicks that wash up. From the natural oil seeps barely offshore. Drilling to drain the oil from the same seeps was stopped because … there was still some oil seeping.

I’d rather have the wars on foreign shores than here.

    etc.

  2. The Left just gets creepier and creepier. Ayn Rand was criticized for penning one-dimensional caricatures of “liberals,” but in the decades since her novels were published, the real-life “liberals” not only become more and more like her so-called “caricatures,” but even pass them in grotesquerie.

  3. G’day,

So under Romney there’s going to be a space program and aur pair girls. Whats the problem?

  4. Somebody call James Cameron! We need to raise the bar!

South Park has been kicking ass this season!

  5. So this is the new civility? Peddling this overwrought hyperbole has consequences. What exactly are the reasonable forms of response if you honestly believe that your political opponents are not just going to wreck the country but are positively evil? That a future where your political opponents win at the polls will be nothing but a hell on Earth where the sick are left to die, the air is poisoned, and freeways are going unmaintained. Is armed insurrection called for in that situation? What sort of message toward the spirit of bipartisanship are they sending when they put out claims like this?

Meanwhile, how hypocritical is it for the party which has raced the fastest to saddle our country with an unimaginable amount of national debt is using this imagery of doing a disservice towards the children of the future? The 2011 federal deficit was larger than the entire federal budget in 1981 (adjusted for inflation) and somehow that sort of behavior is something we are led to believe won’t impact the children of the future in any way.

  6. Waiting for Democratic officials to decry this as offensive and beneath the dignity of a presidential campaign…

  7. You’ve got it all wrong. This is the kind of ad we’d ALL run in Obumble’s situation.

Wouldn’t YOU run this ad too, if YOU’D just allowed 4 Americans to be murdered in Benghazi while you were out campaigning? Are you telling me you’d tell the truth or walk away from the campaign to be ‘Presidential’? You tell the truth now JUST because you’d made the wrong decisions THEN? No way, you wouldn’t either! You’d run some kind of ad that would destroy your opponents by saying they are misogynistic, homophobes who like dirty water, foul air and who would rather see Granny starving or dying on the street instead of in a hospice so the taxes can be reduced. We would ALL cover our butts just like this!

…and we’d sleep with our parents, rape our own children and eat our siblings flesh raw! It goes right along with what the (D)’s charge. These worthless, animals cannot be removed from power soon enough.

I’ve read about serial killers with higher moral standards than Obama and his ilk!

  8. I have little respect for Obama and the left, but I think this particular piece is an October surprise *against* Obama, a subtle parody. Note that there is no political action committee identification, and no exhortation to vote for any candidate, just to vote. Some pundit a while back said that the political debate has devolved to the point that candidate A can show candidate B’s campaign videos to A’s base, and it will just fire them up, not change any minds… and vice versa.

A slow clap for Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.

      1. Hmmm, I don’t see “vote Obama” anywhere there. It does say, “Re-electing President Obama is a momentous decision that will require every single voter.
What would the children of the future say if we let them down this November?” As vague as a horoscope, the ad has plausible deniability because it does _not_ advocate a concrete position, and thus it avoids election disclosure laws.

Just because I don’t like Obama, doesn’t mean I’ll help spread falsehoods about him. Hell, the truth is bad enough…

  9. And of course, this new video is a sly dig at this very very creepy video from the 2008 election, which *was* made by Obama supports:

-and the old video, despite its “dear Leader Kim Jong Il” flavor, is upbeat and much catchier than the new one. This again hints that the “blame” video is a parody.

    1. I’m with Doug on this. It’s like Goodby and Silverstein (not the Partners; the firm says it was an independent project by the founders and is not associated with the firm) just cranked up the creepy.

  10. CHILDREN OF THE DAMMNED

    IRON MAIDEN

He’s walking like a small child
But watch his eyes burn you away
Black holes in his golden stare
God knows he wants to go home
    Children of the damned
    (repeat another 3 times)

He’s walking like a dead man
If he had lived he would have crucified us all
Now he’s standing on the last step
He thought oblivion well it beckons us all
    Children of the damned
    (repeat another 3 times)

Now it burns his hand he’s turning to laugh
Smiles as the flame sears his flesh
Melting his face screaming in pain
Peeling the skin from his eyes
Watch him die according to plan
He’s dust on the ground what did we learn

    You’re children of the damned
    Your back’s against the wall
    You turn into the light
    You’re burning in the night
    You’re children of the damned
    Like candles watch them burn
    Burning in the light
    You’ll burn again tonight
    You’re children of the damned

  11. This actually resembles a Saturday Night Live parody from ’88 set at an alleged part thrown by Dukakis with the last of his campaign funds when he knew he would lose, which included Joan Baez singing all the right wing parodies of left wind liberalism like she really meant them. That was back in the last of the good old days when SNL parodies both sides. Now the left has started parodying itself.
