  1. I don’t believe Schumer would be an upgrade from Reid. Perhaps worse because the guy may be somewhat competent at being crazy as a loon.

      1. Well, the other options for Senator minority leader could’ve been heavy hitters like Barrack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, or John Kerry, so we’re either blessed or cursed.

  2. If the long knives do come out for Reid (politically) it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

I’m happy to see Fund’s comment that part of Reid’s possible demise is the fact that he actually did block votes on Republican ideas…..nothing better than the shadenfreude of seeing a rat like Reid hoist on his own petard.

  3. Should Republicans win control of the Senate tomorrow*, I hope they treat Reid and the other Democrats with exactly the same courtesy and respect as they’ve received for the last 8 years.

*Actually, when the new Congress begins in January.

  4. Fund’s reporting on the campaign has tended to be a half-step behind the curve in the last few weeks, so if he’s saying this now you can bet the actual result will have a twist he didn’t see coming.

  5. Should the GOP gain control of the Senate, my hope is that they spend a significant amount of time in the next two months (before the new Senate convenes) developing new and interesting ways to pay back the Dems for the last six years. Reid has thrown out just about every basic norm of behavior in the Senate, and behaved as if the Dems would never be in the minority again. Bitter, nasty, angry vengeance is a good way to discourage the Dems from doing it again the next time that they are in control…

    1. Or escalate the level of nastiness next time they get in. Democrats, being leftists, have much more of a tendency to treat politics like actual warfare, complete with utter lack of rules.
