Democrats need your vote and they’ll do anything—no matter how low and degrading—to get it. They hate you the way a whore hates a john.
…political rulers need the acquiescence of the ruled to slake the craving for power. Politicians hate you the way a junkie hates junk.
Politicians gain power by means of empty promises or threats, or both when they’re on their game. Should you vote for people who are good at politics? No. You should vote for Republicans. We’re lousy.
Sure seems that way to me. As he once said, politicians are interested in people in the same sense that a flea is interested in a dog. Anyway, the whole thing is worth a read.

Unfortunately, I get this vibe from establishment Republican pols as well. Apparently, a lot of GOP voters feel the same way.

Ask any person on welfare what happens if they make money on the side. Do they report it? What happens then?
If they’re like anyone else I know who is on a fixed income, they do their best to avoid making more than $600 from any one individual organization, and then “forget” to report it. They even sometimes refuse to work past a certain time if they know they’re close to the threshold.
They make sure to claim their mileage and get a full-federal-rate reimbursement cheque cut for it, too, since they take the standard deduction and don’t otherwise itemize.
Don’t ask what sort of special hell gets raised if they DO get a 1099 when they make under $600, though…
I no longer see it as a Democrat/Republican thing as much DC-Acela Cooridor with the Left Coast vs everyone else in the US. And the former really hates that they have to deal at all with the latter. They rather deal with Iran than deal with any of us.
