  1. That unfortunately describes much of the (quote) Mainstream (un-quote) Science Fiction I have seen lately. Did he find the Style Manual the editors use…?

    All authors have used themes, not always political but perhaps ideological on how they interpret the human condition. They are best when subtle. Subtle is craft. I haven’t read many recent sci-fi books but visual media has abandoned thematic subtlety and most other elements of storytelling craft. Cinematography, score, costumes, sets, special effects, and even all of the equipment used like cameras and mics have never been better but the storytelling has never been worse.

    Too bad about the “PC” obligatory statements in the first part about gun control; other than that thought the premise was kind of interesting. That “Dust” channel on youtube is interesting as well; kind of hit and miss as far a quality. Which is to be expected.
