If you read down a little ways in the article you posted, you see that the investigation was underway in June ’24. Guess who wasn’t president then. It makes you wonder if there wasn’t another Democrat that wanted the ’28 herd thinned.
Being part of the Keating Five didn’t stop Maverick from eventually running for President. But it did take a few decades for people to finally forget. All of his co-crooks were long out of office by then, too.
Also, it occurs to me that Spiro T. Agnew resigned over crimes committed while governor, not in the 5-1/2 years he was VP. Might be nice to have some blackmail material on a sitting President, and now someone has gone and ruined it,
The Democrats’ whine that “I’m your political opponent and therefore should be untouchable” rings a bit hollow given the four years of phony prosecutions inflicted on Trump. The DOJ needs to go through the leadership of every blue state like a dose of salts. Plenty of orange jumpsuits to go around.
