California Space Liability Legislation

No, the bill was not “weakened.” It was eviscerated to the point of uselessness, by the Consumer Attorneys of California. The word should go out to the industry that in its current form, if passed, it’s basically a fraud, in that it does nothing significant to reduce liability for launch services providers. As Doug says, we can try again next year, and this time be ready to push back harder against the CAC.

  1. It’d be interesting to see why they did this. They can’t possibly believe that spacecraft operators are going to be so ignorant of California state law. I wonder instead if they saw it as a hole in the dike, precedent for dismantling of their industry.

  2. Move out of California. Try Pease Tradeport in Dover, NH. No income tax, no sales tax, healthiest and best educated population in the country, lowest crime rate……
