  1. It was neither. It’s time someone put these half-wit ingrates in their place. Before criticizing the US, fix your own house.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Or is it those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones?

  2. Oops.I may not have been too clear. My “fix your own house” comment was directed at “the squad”, not at you Rand.

    1. Well, by implication Trump told Rashida Tlaib to go back to his son-in-law’s ancestral homeland, and AOC to go back to Puerto Rico and fix what’s broken. I think this week a hundred thousand or so Puerto Ricans are demanding the same fixing, protesting outside the governor’s mansion. Omar might eventually have to go back to Somalia because of her immigration fraud, which perhaps explains why she desperately wants ICE disbanded.

Just because someone has come to America doesn’t mean we can’t question their motives and loyalties based on their statements, avowed desires, or actions once here. Muhammad Atta, for example, came to the US for flight training. I’m pretty sure we’re free to criticize him without being accused of racism or xenophobia. If someone comes to the US and they rant about our evil government and all but say they want to make us part of a caliphate or purge all the Jews, perhaps they shouldn’t be here any more than Atta.

Regarding the squad’s stance on “immigration”, I can’t recall any Roman senators arguing that it was inhumane and racist not to open the city’s gates to the barbarian hordes, yet the squad would have taken that stance while insisting they represent true Roman values. The Romans would have rightly called them traitors and probably done something typically Roman to them.

We expect our elected officials to represent American interests and the interests of their constituents, who live in America, not the interests of their family and friends back in the home country. You can bet that German-American politicians didn’t side with Germany during either World War, and we’d have shown zero tolerance for any that did. After the Revolutionary War, Americans who sided with Britain were told to rethink their loyalties or leave, and about 90,000 did leave, with half moving to Canada. Of all the claims of racism that might be leveled at George Washington, telling loyalists to get out of the country would not be among them.

All that said, I can’t wait for the raging xenophobe in the White House to find out that his wife isn’t from New York. Boy will he be surprised! Almost as surprised as Democrats will probably be in 2020.

      1. ” I can’t recall any Roman senators arguing that it was inhumane and racist not to open the city’s gates to the barbarian hordes”

Depends on the era. During the Republic, you’re absolutely right. But under the later Empire the Romans let barbarian hordes join the legions and settle in imperial territory. And it worked for a while, but eventually the western half of the Empire fell apart.

      2. A cogent and well written comment George. And completely batty. I am serenely confident we are not allowed to criticize Mo Atta; it would be the very definition of racist and xenophobic. He clearly self-identified as a take-off-and-fly-only pilot, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Many cultures have a rich history in that tradition, and it would be un-American to question any such culture. It’s not who we are, and to deny ourselves the invaluable benefit of exposure to such cultures would be tragic.

        1. True. It’s quite possible that in Atta’s culture, landing a plane was strictly a woman’s job, far beneath his dignity. Plus, Islamophobia!

As an aside, I read one interesting book about flying F-18’s in the Gulf War that mentioned that with only a few exceptions, allied Arab fighter pilots wouldn’t accept further US combat training because in their culture being a student is unmanly, a sign of adolescence and subservience. That’s on top of the problem that the fighter pilots all being part of the ruling class who do not listen to social inferiors.

So once they graduate and get their wings, that’s it, and they never again have to sit through a training class or listen to an instructor’s advice.

I thought that might explain quite a lot. If all the elites have to be the alpha, none of them are ever letting themselves learn anything.

That attitude might also explain the squad. Perhaps they don’t listen because listening is for inferiors.

          1. This reminds me a story that may or may not be apocryphal, about some Saudi pilots who were being trained, and after training, decided to rent a motor home and take a road trip. When they were found upside down in a ditch with it, they explained that they’d put it on autopilot (cruise control), and went to the back.

          2. Probably had recently watched Anchorman 2, but had taken a bathroom break and missed the scorpion scene.

  3. There was nothing the slightest bit racist about it.

I would have called them “treasonous c*nts”, but Trump is more of a gentleman than I am.

  4. Were the comments “racist” in the dictionary sense, or in the contemporary, bastardized Stupid “Liberal” sense?

    1. Mostly in the liberal sense. It’s true that telling people to “go back where you came from!” has a pretty long history, often hurled at new arrivals who hadn’t assimilated yet, but it was prompted by Congressmen who’s words and actions flagged them more as in league with America’s enemies than American patriots.

But we’re living in the crazy times.

Optimist: The glass if half full.
Pessimist: The glass is half empty.
      Liberal: The glass is racist.

      1. He also said to come back after you fixed the problems there and tell us how you did it. He didn’t say never return.

      2. It is also something that Democrats say all the time.

While insulting, not every insult is racist.

  5. Ilhan Omar (the main target of the tweet) used fraud to immigrate from Somalia and then obtain citizenship. Which means “send her back” might become reality!

The tweets purpose was to make these women the face of the Democrat party. It worked.

  6. Bound to be some splatter if you have to get down into the gutter to compete on a level with the squad. This can lead to mis-quotes and misunderstandings.

  7. Trump said go back to where you came from. He didn’t mention a country. People put those words in his mouth. Was that intentional? What were his motives? No one knows.

I’m not familiar with every member of the squad, but none of them did anything in their home districts. They didn’t get their start solving problems at home, so they don’t know how their proposed solutions will play out at a small scale much less a national one. Solving problems in their home districts would actually play against them as they gain power through perpetuating problems not solving them.

    1. Apparently saying “send them back” about Congresscritters you want to send home and out of the House, is now racial? Sort of like how a surveyors mark is suddenly an assassins cross hairs.

    2. Not only that, but Trump said “fix what’s wrong there and come back and show us how it’s done,” which nobody in the media (or our host) seems willing to admit.

  8. Since no one did the reading,
Ok lets ignore the tweet telling congresswoman other than Omar are Born US Citizens and by Trump account of his own lineage as ancestrally American as he is to go back to where they came from. What makes him presume they came from some where that need their fixing.

How bout this for racism Trump tweets:
“The “Squad” is a very Racist group of troublemakers who are young, inexperienced, and not very smart. They are pulling the once great Democrat Party far left,”

My question is when was the Democrat Party was great?
He referring to when Hillary was warning us about the super Predators and pass a crime bill that was incarcerating large percentage of Black People?
When Democrats were segregating people by color,
When FDR was Putting Japanese in interment camps?
When the “Very fine” confederates (democrats) were fighting a war to keep people as property .
So what past great Democratic party? The one that was racist in support of white people ?
He Says far left lets see some great democrat on the right side, Bill Clinton , George Wallace, LBJ, James Eastland, Howard Smith. Think our host would say they were all racist democrats as he often put forth.

Perhaps our great GOP leader would be much better suited for the “great” Democratic party circa 1828-2000 .

Rand maybe you want to revisit the Convington Catholic incident maybe the Native American who told the kids to go back to where they came from was just ignorant not a racist.

Wodun nice head in the sand there Trump pretty explicitly called the “countries ” the progressive came from as proverbial shit holes then said maybe they should go back to where they came from and fix it, Then offers Nancy Pelosi to cover their travel expenses which safe to say is not Acella express tickets to Boston and NYC, and plane tickets to Detroit and Minnesota. Sure the congresswoman salary can cover those costs.

How dare Trump call them Democrats. That’s just horrible.

  9. My brother was a flight engineer in a NATO unit. Commented that Turkish pilots had trouble with landings and taking instruction. He was a ground crew chief when a lot of SA pilots were in training at his base. They were known for bad landings and poor personal hygiene.

  10. Pretty silly, like everyone else. Trump did not mention the Four in his tweet. He talked about immigrants, so probably he meant Omar. Maybe he thought Tlaib was an immigrant too, who knows? He obviously didn’t mean Pressley as she isn’t remotely an immigrant, and probably didn’t mean AOC either.
It’s been truly bizarre this last week, reading people say, “What an idiot! Doesn’t he know that three of them are not immigrants?! What a racist? How can he say things like that about non-immigrants?!” Reading comprehensions.
