It’s a personal one. I’m accepted to give a brief talk on space property rights at the IAC in three weeks. But media can’t give talks, and registration will be about $1500. Not sure I can justify that.

Tell them your speaking fee is $1500. Problem solved.
Or, if not, do a Go Fund Me (or equivalent).
Plus there is the travel, housing, and maybe rental car expenses. It’s in DC this year, correct? All told I think that it would come to something like $2,300. Probably not worth it. Perhaps if you were to arrange a number of appointments with some of the decision makers then it might justify the expense.
