  1. Noble Cause Corruption, it starts with wanting to fix the obvious problems but it is a hunger that can never be appeased.

  2. Speaking as someone who was raised Catholic, it’s with some regret I wish to see a Protestant or two appointed in the next few years. But not from the Ivy League.

    1. Perhaps you are unfamiliar with some of the mainsteam Protestant denominations – indulging in marxian “liberation theology” is just the half of it. I have to admit, however that the new Pope is catching up pretty quick.

      1. We now know that the answer to “is the Pope Catholic?” is “definitely no.” We still need confirmation on the answer to “does a bear shit in the woods?”, though.

Then again, any given bear is more likely to be Catholic than the Pope.

    2. I heard this man banter with Richard Epstein with host Peter Robinson of that Uncommon Knowledge interview show on the Internet. Professor Epstein is regarded in Conservative/Libertarian circles is the smartest attorney, evah, but to my sense of the discussion, this man is a sharper attorney (in a good sense) yet.

Born in South Korea, he graduated from Episcopal Academy, and yeah, yeah, he is Ivy League through-and-through.

As an attorney working in the 2nd Bush Administration, right-thinking people regard him as a war criminal. I would like to see him nominated to the highest court just to see heads explode.

      1. My head certainly would explode. I can only hope that your post is some strange satire that eludes me.

Author of the torture memos, enabler of probably the worst president in my lifetime (Bush 43), even most recently his opinion on the ICC and US sovereignty, Yoo is an evil man. I hope for originalists to be put into the Supreme Court, Yoo would invent and impose travesties on justice even worse than Roberts.

  3. Ted Cruz would be a good replacement for whoever is next needing replacement, and for Chief Justice when Roberts decides to retire (he has significant health issues)…

    Despite attending Harvard Law

  4. Karl Denninger reckons that all these people are compromised before taking office, hence the changes in attitude when it counts. Seems believable to me. What was the name of that guy who killed himself again?

    1. I don’t know the name of any well-known guy found dead in the past year or so who in fact took his own life. Do you?

  5. There is some know-it-all pundit that the reason “Trump lost” the DACA case is that his brief was prepared “without listening to the experts” and that he didn’t offer a reason for his Executive Order.

Getting snarky here, Chief Justice, but isn’t there a clause in the Constitution interpreted to support Separation of Powers? If an Executive Order is lawful, does the executive have to supply a reason?

  6. Speaking of dead guys named Epstein …

Rumour has it that Roberts took the ticket on the Lolita Express to Epstein Island. Certainly would explain his behavior.

    1. Another rumor is that there was something not quite up to snuff legally with respect to the process by which he and his wife adopted their two daughters
