  1. “37. Gaslighting:
The most misused word. It’s not simply lying, it’s trying to make someone doubt their sanity, like in the film Gaslight.

E.g. Zersetzung was a Stasi psyop to sneak into homes and rearrange furniture and reset clocks to convince dissidents they were going crazy. ”

I had a guy break into my house, and substitute all of my stuff with exact duplicates…

    1. Gaslighting is trying to convince someone their memories are inaccurate and they’re not sane. It’s a dick move.

Bladerunning is trying to convince people their memories are artificial and implanted. And that’s a Phillip K. Dick move.

      1. Oddly enough, often are memories aren’t accurate. So sometimes the guy try to convince you that your remembering it wrong may actually be right. Or he’s remembering it wrong and not lying to you.

          1. I am guessing Rand and Mitchell have an off-line connection that legitimizes this exchange as friendly teasing.

Think of the “You think I’m funny? Tell me how I am funny” scene in Goodfellas.

  2. The last part of number 36 is crap. Sometimes taking unknown substances results in real poisoning.
For a guy with a cynical and skeptical view of the world he is remarkably gullible about the clot shots.
