That’s the fifth version of the origin of Thanksgiving I’ve encountered. The first one was cited in the article, then there was the Rush Limbaugh version, and then a Reason magazine piece a year or two ago, and now this. They don’t differ much in broad terms, but in finer details which render them all mutually exclusive.
I prefer the fifth version: Season 15, Episode 13 of South Park, “A History Channel Thanksgiving.” The boys have to write a school report on the origins of Thanksgiving, and “research” it by watching a special on The History Channel (tagline “The History Channel – Where Truth is History”).
Oops, I meant “I prefer the fourth version…”
