Hard to imagine him being able to do Blazing Saddles or The Producers today.

I read his autobiography recently, “All About Me!”.
The first half is pretty entertaining – him as a child, then working on The Show of Shows and then his early films. It gets boring in the second half when he starts making not so great movies in the later years.
I thought the most interesting bits were about how he had to find the technical crews that knew how to film in black and white for Young Frankenstein. And that when he hired David Lynch to direct the Elephant Man and found out how quirky he really was.
At the end of the book he talked about how him and Carl Reiner lived in the same house, and would put out folding tables in front of their chairs and eat dinner while watching Jeopardy, which is literally what me and my wife do.

I was just reminded of my favorite bit of Brooks.

The smirk…
Turned 100? So the 2000-year-old-man has one thousand and nine hundred more years to go?

Or does that make him 2100 years old? Give or take…
He barely managed to do Blazing Saddles back then.
I’ve heard that he is going to appear in a sequel to Space Balls.
