  1. Yes, thanks to Newt Gingrich, space settlement and development is once more a source of jokes. Single-handed he returned the giggle factor.

  2. Something tells me that when there finally are people living on the moon, they wont take kindly to people from Earth telling them what to do.

    1. Which won’t stop people on Earth from telling them what to do. And so long as the people on Earth have the factories that make critical spare parts for life-support systems, they will have some leverage in such matters.

The extraterrestrial property-rights issue will be settled, will have to be settled, long before there is a wholly self-sufficient human civilization on the Moon. And no, “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress” is not a useful guide on how to deal with intrusive busybody Earthlings.

      1. When folks settle space they will wonder why we ever worried about Real Property Rights on the Moon or space since it will be clear its only an idea, like “free air” that applies to the Earth.

  3. Newt will not have any effect at all. This country has forgotten how to have a serious dialog about anything at all. Only those that do will have any effect.

Mr. Hope is a doer that makes an unreasonable claim and sells it off in parts. His claim will be invalidated as soon as somebody with boots on the ground makes a reasonable claim for the same locations. Those that bought property from Mr. Hope are just out of luck.
