Glad for the cracks, but I’m also hoping the H1B goes down in flames too. A system where large tech companies get legal cover to import de facto indentured servants so that they can keep their labor costs down is abhorrent.
Cthulhu must be right….For what POSSIBLE reason would we need to inport hi tech workers when we have 10’s of not 100’s of thousands of citizens – highly trained in tech – looking for work?
Any importation of labor when you have an effective unemployment rate of ~11% is insane.
I have never bought the notion that there are jobs that Americans woudln’t do – and that includes picking cabbages. You stop importing labor; end unemployment payments and the cabbages would get picked.
So this H1B deal is a crooked scam.
Apropos of this, there have been a few articles recently in national media about the “age-ism” in Silly Valley, which is another contributor to the supposed shortage of STEM majors. Seems like the situation is ripe for a collection of crusty old farts to band together and out-engineer the young whippersnappers…
