  1. I wouldn’t be celebrating right now. If it was canceled it could have been a cost cutting move to focus investment into another rocket family. Iran has been having some success with their solid fueled Sejil missiles, which can already reach Israel just fine, so it is hardly surprising they would cancel the legacy hypergolic fuel rocket family they were dual using for space launch. Solid rocket technology is also more applicable to air defense systems.

What this does indicate is that their R&D collaboration with the Norks regarding nuclear weapons and launchers development is probably over.

    1. From Urban Dictionary:
      20 WORDS RELATED TO NORK
norks tits boobs breasts dork nerd jugs baps funbags swoobing hooters rack bra jubblies knockers puppies titties bosoms norking tit

After some consideration I’ve decided that your Norks probably means North Koreans.

    2. It is an open secret that Iran, Pakistan and North Korea have a joint nuclear weapons program. Supposedly the North Koreans were working on the hypergolic propellant launchers and plutonium bombs, while Pakistan was working on solid propellant launchers and uranium enrichment. All technology is shared between the three countries. Supposedly they also had some limited Russian and Chinese outside help on the missile development and Khan stole the uranium enrichment technology from URENCO.

This is not the first time something like that happened. South Africa and Israel had a joint development program for nuclear weapons as did Iraq, Egypt, and Argentine.

      1. Given that Pakistan is Sunni, and Iran Shia, and that Pakistan’s weapons programs are bankrolled by the Saudis who see Iran as a mortal threat, there is no likelihood at all that Iran and Pakistan are working together on nukes.

          1. So, per Wikipedia, not an official working relationship, but roundabout through NK, and a lone rogue leaking info. Not what I would call a “joint nuclear weapons program”.

          2. Or so they claim. If you think the Pakistani secret services knew nothing about these deals you sure are naive. Pakistan’s major rival is India and everyone else is either a possible ally or someone to sucker if not both.

  2. I was thinking along the same lines as Godzilla, I suppose they’ll just have to concentrate on rockets with lower delta V missions now.
