  1. It should divide in two (or more).

I’m not enthusiastic about giving California more senate seats.

    I’m surprised you’re in favor.

    1. If you read my descriptions of the new states, some of them would be Republican. It would distill the leftist stuff into Silicon Valley and West California.

      1. Oh, please, please let Governor Moonbeam raise taxes on Californians to pay the legal bills of illegals!

        1. How do you gerrymander among new states? The ones that lean Republican would attract more Republicans, the ones that are leftist would concentrate even more, because the leftists hate the countryside and desert. Did you read my essays? They would sort themselves out.

The same way you do it for congressional districts?

You’ve lived in a blue state for quite some time now. Any plans to “sort yourself out” to a red one? If California does subdivide your essays will not provide the model. It’s hard to imagine that any subdivision will lead to anything other than a net gain of Democratic senators. I prefer the status quo where California has the same number of senators as Wyoming.

Yes, in the scenario in which South California was a different state than West California, I’d move a few miles south to Orange County in a New York minute, as would many non-leftists. How many LA residents happy with their insane government do you imagine would move to Riverside? Or Bakersfield? I could also see a lot of libertarians from all over the country moving up to Jefferson.

  2. But satisfying the urge for ideological purity would come at a very dear cost:

The interesting thing here is that Democrats now consider socialism to be their purest form. While many people have said this for decades only to be met with denials, the mask is finally coming off.

The people freaking out over Russia right now probably don’t have much to say about the KGB shaping the Democrat party over decades or about Democrats working with international socialists to attack out country.

  3. I’m all in favor of Calexit. Its rapid (and inevitable) demise would be the sweetest object lesson in what happens to a socialist state ever.

  4. Anglo Progressives and Blacks can join with Hispanics to help California secede and re-join Mexico as the state of Aztlan, in conformance with the long-held recommendation of the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) in the U.S. and the Nationalist Front of Mexico.

    1. When the Hispanics occupied Downtown LA, a large number of blacks left for places like Las Vegas. One reason a larger than normal percentage of blacks backed Trump was the realization that the black unemployment has been made worse by the Mexican invasion. But yes, given that border control is “racist” in this state, I’d put my money on California merging with Mexico. For one thing, Hollywood could get their drugs direct from the source.

Isn’t weed officially legal there now and not just unofficially? Or do you mean the white stuff?

    2. “Anglo Progressives and Blacks can join with Hispanics to help California secede and re-join Mexico as the state of Aztlan, ..”

I believe that precise things would be attempted. Might even succeed.

  5. In his state of the union message, I think Trump should say that California has been determined to cause cancer – to the Republic.

Some of their legislators have threatened to withhold federal tax money, while people are out collecting signatures for secession. The fact that the union is threatened is alone reason enough to kick out all the illegals. Their existence here is apparently incompatible with the Republic.

  6. As an aside, consider the movement of 20,000 libertarians to New Hampshire. Is it happening? Yes, but slowly. (They now have BitCoin ATMs.) People can’t just leave their homes and jobs, especially if they have a family. The same situation would play out in California, I believe, especially when the affluent leftist enclaves begin to look like Detroit.

I wonder what Jim thinks of the Free State Project? Will he move to Vermont?
