When they’re taught that playing moral trump cards determines truth (not that they have any respect for an objective truth, as opposed to a person’s “lived truth”), then their logical reasoning abilities are rendered useless, and seem to atrophy. It’s like giving them a cheat code that lets them bypass serious thinking.
By definition, students are ignorant – that’s why they go to school, even university.
They are not curing ignorance, nor are they doing anything about their cultural stupidity.
The 1939 Wizard of Oz had it so right–the Wizard hands the Scarecrow a diploma and the Scarecrow starts spouting gibberish. That was a bit more on point than the books, where the Wizard just filled the Scarecrow’s head with pins and needles to make him sharp.
”How can you talk if you haven’t got a brain?”
“I don’t know. But then again, there’s an awful lot of people that do a great deal of talking without any brains.”

There is a poster from an animal rights group stating there are 1500 monkeys on campus.
Funny, I thought there were a lot more of us faculty and academic staff at this public university?
…and how many typewriters? I guess these days it would be keyboards?
This is why I think Trump’s plan to allow 600,000 (or however many) Chinese students attend US universities isn’t he horrible idea the right has made it. I consider it a brilliant act of asymmetric warfare against China. Unleash the destructive power of American higher education against them, on a voluntary basis.

No sane person would put sloppier and more error prone code into a computer but we pay to have it done to our children.
