  1. “So why is it conventional wisdom to point to conservatives as “culture war mongers”?”

The author is deep in it. The subtext is that the Democrats are showing their hand while they should be keeping it hidden. He isn’t upset that Democrats have embraced drag queens twerking with little girls on stage while grown men throw money at them. He is upset people are finding out what Democrats are about when there is still time to prevent them from seizing control of government and never letting it go.

The conventional wisdom in portraying Republicans as X is because Democrats use in/out group and identity politics. Democrats dehumanize, stereotype, and scapegoat Republicans so that low info people are less likely to listen to them. Calling Republicans culture warmongers is just like calling them racists, Nazi, and homophobes that hate women, the disabled, and old people.

None of it is true and as the barriers to communication have been coming down, Republicans have been able to take their message directly to the people. This is why Democrats are so bent on censorship and preventing immigrants from learning English. Democrats greatest fear is that the Southern Strategy will be successful.

The Southern Strategy wasn’t the Great Party Switch, where the Republicans decided to suddenly become racist to win over voters in the South after being against racism since the party’s founding. The Southern Strategy was about being race neutral while focusing on economics, national defense, patriotism, and crime. Atwater was explicit that this message will find receptive ears with minorities over time and as the author notes, they are.

The author is correct to note that people are taking note of what the Democrats are becoming with their Marxism Rising power plays and that turns a lot of people off when they know about it. But, people aren’t just turning against Democrats because of that but because of the competing message that turns people onto Republicans when they know about it.

    1. GOP leader McCarthy (who normally repels me) surprised me with clear speaking the other day. He said Democrats are the party of slavery & segregation & Jim Crow & KKK etc so removing statues of Confederate leaders – all Democrats – to erase Democrat history won’t work. Because Democrats are still Democrats. Democrats need to change their name if they want to make people forget their history.

      1. This can’t be said enough and I’m not sure why more visible people don’t say it all the time, like every day.

  2. Libs have always been the aggressors in the culture wars. The right (as Sarah Hoyt likes to say) just wants to ruthlessly leave people alone.

    1. The right, or what’s left of it, only wants to leave people alone because the Christian right has been undermined into near non existence and what’s left is a sort of weak apologetic libertarianism. Leaving leftists alone, btw, gives them carte blanc to work their program, which has been moving along quite smartly. The Disney corporation – a $110 billion corporation whose content is effectively controlled by the CCP, is only a small component of the media/big tech leftist combine. The Disney machine has hardly suffered a dent against US trad culture.

      1. The right needs evangelists, not scolds. It is a tricky thing to defend ones culture because as insiders, it is not easy to identify what makes up our culture, it just is.
