I find it amazing that the Democrats have managed to get themselves on the wrong side of almost every issue. And they can’t fix it unless they stop catering to their nutty base, and they can’t stop being condescending because it’s almost at the core of their current identity.

Among the ashes of the wide-awake Stalinist Lemmings Party and the no-nothing Party of Stupid, I wonder if it’s time for a viable third party made up of those deplorable boomer-rubes. In fact let’s call it the Boomer Rubes Party!
Leftists didn’t gain power by starting the “Leftist Party” they did so by taking over an existing party, the democrat party.

Which is basically what Trump tried/trying to do. He has just as many enemies among the Republican establishment as he has among the dems; only difference is the Democrats are open about it.
People like to look at the word Conservative and imagine it means to conserve, as in prevent change, but this isn’t true at all in a political context. Conservatism is a reform based ideology and in its very nature bent on battling the corrupting influences of humanity and governance.
This is why the establishment GOP doesn’t like Conservatives. Conservatives want reform and not just of government but of their party.

Having a very protective press corps doesn’t help. When you can say or do anything without fear of criticism, the temptation to let your freak fly becomes irresistible. The problem is that reality always has the last word. The press can’t protect you from the results of your own policy. High gas prices can’t be hidden, the shit show of the Afghan withdrawal can’t be swept under the rug, the anger of parents who don’t want their kids indoctrinated can’t be ignored.

And they can claim anyone who doesn’t believe the nutty explanations are white, xenophobic, homophobic, racist bigots who want to overthrow the country…and are stupid flyover country rubes to boot.
Just recall that book that came out a while back which lamented the fact that the flyover rubes vote against their own self interest when they vote against the Glorious Plans of the Democrats.
