I guess employers don’t really value degrees that were taxpayer funded, in such topics as Elizabethan lesbian poetry.
Those going into STEM fields are doing pretty well.
My granddaughters have degrees in Biochemical engineering and accounting. Both got good jobs right out of college and are doing quite well*. Probably matters if the degree is something that requires human interaction as well as competency.
*arrogant little &%$# make more than I do and have benefits that I never imagined.
