Should those Cosplay Commandos come to my part of the country, they’ll be in for a rude awakening.
They know that Democrat mayors/governors will protect them with the law enforcement and judiciary powers they control
Some of said mayors/governors will at least try to protect them. But the ranks of woke DA’s have thinned even in very blue cities/counties. And the FBI isn’t going to honor such efforts any more than ICE has honored self-declared “sanctuary” status for illegal immigrants in such places. Things might briefly get as messy as they did certain places in the ’60s, but that nonsense neither caught general fire nor lasted very long then and won’t now.
Leftists, somewhat paradoxically, are generally self-involved competitors for status within their reference groups – hence the pervasive virtue-signaling. There are plenty of them willing to do consequence-free violence for the cause, but virtually none actually willing to die for same. Shoot a few pour encourager les autres and the problem goes away.
