Nancy Pelosi

I hope she remains this delusional right through the first Tuesday of November.

“I think the Republicans are wasting their time using that as their electoral issue, and they will find that out,” she said.

Pressed by a reporter whether Democrats should shy away from the issue on the campaign trail, Pelosi didn’t hesitate.

“No, absolutely not,” she said.

Pelosi has long argued that the healthcare law will become increasingly popular as more people recognize the benefits.

She’ll probably argue it to her grave, hopefully at least her political one.

  1. Maybe we should start calling her “Baghdad Nan.” (Sorry, Jim, I believe the lady is already spoken-for.)

  2. Here’s my predictions on the matter assuming that Obamacare doesn’t get vastly overhauled in the next decade or two.

    1) US health care will continued to climb in cost even after subsidies and inflation are taken into account. Obamacare will generate a substantial deficit once all its provisions are in play.
    2) More and more US citizens will get shoved into Medicaid. People who have health insurance will continue to decline in number.
    3) The distinction between insured and uninsured will remain with Medicaid falling in the “uninsured” camp. Quality of health care for Medicaid recipients will decline. They might even go back to emergency room visits to get the health care they need.
    4) The same people who pushed Obamacare will push single payer health care even when it wasn’t their intent all along.

  3. Asked one of my liberal friends if he got his health insurance yet and he said, “Hell no.” People don’t like having their lives micromanaged by douchebag politicians. Will it change his voting habits? Probably not. He buys into the stereotype that everyone other than Democrats are racist and views voting Democrat as fighting back against racists. This really blows my mind, considering the types of things my liberal friends say.

The most bigoted, racist, misogynistic things I have ever heard in meat space have been said by hard core liberals. The thinking seems to go, “Look at all the crazy shit we say and since we are the non-racists, just think of all the shit the real racists say.” Meanwhile, I’m thinking, “No one acts like this but you guys.”

So what is your friend doing for health care? Is he just planning on paying out of pocket
      for all costs?
