So many people that come here from other countries are willing to work their butts off to build a life that was not possible in the country of their birth. I see the American dream being earned by immigrants at least as often as native born locally. One that will risk death and imprisonment to come here and build a better life for themselves and their descendants are the kind of people that built this country. I will take them over the whining losers that think I should support them because they are too lazy to earn a decent life though being born here.
That said, criminals and free riders need to be excluded and deported if they get here anyway. The need here is for an honest sorting between the people we want and need in this country, and those we don’t. The current system incentivizes behavior that is detrimental to this country.
First, they came for the illegal immigrants, and I didn’t care because my grandparents got here before the rules changed.
I tend to agree but you need to put a number on it. In theory, most people favor legal immigration. Not many people support open borders.
How many legal immigrants would you permit every year? This is where the real disagreements are and immigration limits are also what slows down the legal process that everyone says if we just fixed would magically make everything better.
The number is determined by whether they can come here and support themselves legally while paying taxes and becoming Americans. The ones that come as parasites and fifth columnists can starve or leave and remove themselves from the problem.
It is when there is a system in place that allows for fraud that causes most of the problems. Whether it’s welfare generations or immigrants, incentivizing sloth is destructive tom the nation.
I am hardline redneck on many of these issues. Legalize drugs and let people get help or die. That puts a few million cops, lawyers, and prison guards back into the productive workforce while defunding the criminal cartels.
I see it as a corruption problem not as in sending people to prison, but as in a corrupted code of our civilization. I see the problems here and am constantly amazed at the fact that it is worse in much of the world.

This. I also think a sane and significant immigration policy would help keep the US competitive especially against zero immigration countries like China and Japan.
We could also stop celebrating abortion and encourage people to have families. Part of this are perverse incentives from government and part is cultural rot.
Does no good to import people into our culture when we can not propagate our culture to ourselves or to them.
Well, it’s going to be kind of funny if the illegals manage to mostly replace Whites and then the successor to the US collapses into the kind of third-world crapholes they fled.
Yeah the ones I know that are building businesses and working their tails off are trying to reproduce what they left.
Most of the problems of illegals are an own goal by a dysfunctional welfare system. Supporting parasites is a way to get more parasites.
