End Of An Icon
That’s a shame — he was only 82, which isn’t that old these days. No word of the cause of death. I’d heard that he’d been doing well since his recent heart surgery, so either there were later complications, or he just happened to succumb to something else.
The irony, of course, as it notes in the bio, is that he never wanted to be an icon, and generally shunned the publicity. In any event, ad astra, and resquiescat in pace.

Sports Fanatacism
This is ridiculous on multiple levels (and yes, I’d say the same thing even if it didn’t involve my alma mater).
Phyllis Diller
Will hopefully be cracking up the angels now, if such exist. Younger people probably don’t know of her, but she was very funny in her heyday. She was one of the original queens of the one liners. Here’s a sampling.
She was also a great example of recreating yourself at mid life. She started out as a budding starlet, then became a housewife, and then a very successful comedienne (and a talented pianist).
Now let’s see, first Tony Scott, then her. Following the rule of three, who’s next?

The delivery is, unsurprisingly given her age, a little subdued, but she seemed sharp to the end. She was at her peak in the sixties and seventies, along with Milton Berle, Bob Hope, Jack Benny, Don Rickles, etc.
A “Progressive” Insurance Company
I had never paid much attention to Progressive Insurance, and knew nothing about them except from the ads. Well, it turns out that they’re appropriately named (well, at least the limited degree that it is appropriate to call leftists “progressive”):
According to Mark Progressive offed to pay 1/3 of the claim, (I presume his sister paid 3/3 of the preimums regularly) when that was turned down it went to court and what did Mark see at the table of the fellow who drove the car that killed his sister….
At the trial, the guy who killed my sister was defended by Progressive’s legal team.
If you are insured by Progressive, and they owe you money, they will defend your killer in court in order to not pay you your policy.
Strangely enough Peter Lewis the Chairman of the Board, biggest stock holder and former CEO has no problem making big payouts to other causes such as $2.5 million to Move On.com and 3 Million to Americans Coming Together (both matched by George Soros) according to Snoops.com
Well, I know where I’m not going to buy my insurance in the future.

It’s pretty obvious to anyone with the slightest grasp of economics that this administration has been a disaster on almost every front.
