This seems huge. Researchers have preserved a rabbit brain down to the neuron.

Life Extension
A 25% increase in healthy lifespan in mice, by genetic surgery. It’s unclear, though, if this can be done to existing phenotypes.
[Update a while later]
Here’s a more interesting take from Ed Yong.
[Update a few minutes later]
OK, they do actually seem to be clearing senescent cells from normal mice. This is pretty exciting stuff.
The Food Pyramid Scheme
A call for an impartial scientific review of government guidelines.
They’re currently worse than useless.
The Calorie
Counting calories is mindless, and generally useless, if not actually counterproductive. The calorie counts on fast food menus are pretty much meaningless.
Hillary’s Health
Is she hiding major problems?
It wouldn’t surprise me. Hiding things is, after all, what Clintons do.
Fish Oil Substitutes
Omega 3 fatty acids from GMO plants. I wish there was better data on just how effective Omega 3s are.
The Food Fight Over Government Nutrition
No, the Republicans aren’t “politicizing it”:
For decades, the government has advised Americans on what they should eat. The advice isn’t just advisory; it drives everything from school lunches and agricultural subsidies to marketing for those bowls of candy we call breakfast cereal. But the science behind this enterprise has always been shaky.
Yes. And Michelle’s lunch program continues to constitute literal, physical child abuse.

Obama’s Failures
Ed Driscoll has a roundup of links chronicling them. We have to survive another year of this, unless the Democrats in the Senate suffer from a fit of sanity and agree to remove him.
ObamaCare Has Gone Critical
…and it’s on life support:
…let’s recap. Obamacare has depressed job growth, costs are escalating at a higher rate, barely a dent has been made in the numbers of uninsured, and insurers are either exiting the markets or failing altogether. Under any other circumstances, a program that failed on its promises so badly would have all sides moving quickly to repeal it and work on a replacement. Don’t bet on that outcome from this White House and its dwindling number of Democratic supporters on Capitol Hill. They will surely try to sell us the illusion of competence and success.
Because they’re as delusional about it as they are about the war.
