Americans Aren’t Afraid
But they want a president who will make ISIS afraid of us:
President Obama has seemed increasingly ill-suited to the recent shift in the public’s mood. He suggested at a press conference in Turkey that all his critics offer in the fight against ISIS is tough talk. What he seems to be missing is the majority of Americans who want not only tougher talk but tougher actions to follow. Instead, President Obama keeps offering a measured, slow-and-steady approach that many military experts and even supporters of his administration say is failing and insufficient.
It’s not just the President’s actions that don’t suit the current mood, it’s also his bloodless tone. It was noted by many observers that the only time he seemed truly upset when speaking about the bloodbath in Paris was when discussing Republicans. That’s a fight the President’s emotions seem to be engaged in, the one with ISIS terrorists is one he has been downplaying from the beginning.
Recall that two years ago the President was referring to ISIS as the JV team. And in a major address on ISIS last September he suggested ISIS was only an imminent threat to the region. More recently he claimed that threat was contained. The President always seems to be a day late and a dollar short when it comes to dealing with ISIS.
Going to have to wait at least a year for that, barring some Democrats in the Senate growing some testicles.
And then there’s this: Trumps plan may be dumb, but Obama’s laid-back do-nothing plan is even dumber. The most surprising thing about that one is the source.
America’s Most Dangerous Demagogue
…isn’t Donald Trump. He lives in the White House.
Yes.
Daniel Kaufman, RIP
Wow. Timothy Sandefur (who I met at the Magna Carta symposium in June) lost his brother in the San Bernardino massacre:
For centuries, people have pondered the meaning of evil. But the solution to the riddle is that evil has no meaning. Evil is the absence of meaning; it is meaninglessness. To build, to create, to act in the world—these all have meaning. Evil cannot. It is only a black hole that can tear apart meaningful things, and return them to the hollow silence of the universe. This is what we mean when we say that evil is “banal.” It lacks the infinite grandeur of even a grain of sand, let alone of laughter, or of a kiss. In that sense, evil does not matter. It is incapable of mattering. It cannot live or mean things. The best it can do is look on in ire, envy, and despair. And the envious are always walled off from the world that we, the living, inhabit, by an invisible and impervious barrier that they erect themselves; they always have the deadly touch of King Midas. We defy evil and envy when we live. Living in this world sheds light into darkness. It is all we can do, and all that needs to be done, and it is more than enough. Therefore, we shall live. We shall be joyful, hard-working, silly, creative, and smart and sexy and brave and fun. Be a brief candle that helps spread another light.

Robert Gates’ Choice For Next President
I suspect that Leon Panetta feels the same way. In fact, almost anyone involved in national security probably does.
Mean People Are Lying About Hillary Again
Remember in the 90s when those lying women were accusing poor Hillary’s husband of sexual harassment and rape?
Well now those terrible Benghazi families are lying about what she told them on the tarmac:
“I gave Hillary a hug and shook her hand. And she said ‘we are going to have the film maker arrested who was responsible for the death of your son,’” recalls Tyrone Woods’ father, reading directly from his written record from that day. Sean Smith’s mother and uncle remember the same thing, as does Glen Doherty’s sister. Now watch Hillary’s performance from this past Sunday. Note how anchor George Stephanopoulos, to his credit, asks a very specific question, preceded by clips of statements from several of the aforementioned family members.
I’ll bet Woods’ father was lying to his diary, like that guy in the Clinton administration. It must be terrible to be a Clinton, and always have people telling lies about you.
The Democrats And Gun Control
This is what it looks like when the tide is turning:
Everyone sees that Obama and his minions not only cannot protect us, but that they will actively seek to stop us from doing it ourselves.
Everyone sees that Obama is simply trying to not let this crisis go to waste by stripping real Americans of their ability to protect themselves from Islamist murderers – and from his fascist dreams.
Everyone sees that we are on our own.
Bill Clinton definitely gets it; for all his myriad faults, he knows Americans and he knows “Give me your guns even though I’m utterly incompetent” won’t sell outside of Manhattan. It is even dawning on Hillary, a woman so dumb that she failed the District of Columbia bar exam. And it’s dawning on the down-ticket Dems who had been dreaming of retaking the Senate in 2016, but now get to run in red states on the platform of “Let’s bring in more Muslim immigrants and take your guns!”
But they can’t help themselves. They’re imploding.
[Late-morning update]
The Democrats have become unhinged and ugly on gun control.
To be fair to them, that’s not really anything new.
A Presidency That Shall Live In Infamy
My thoughts on yesterday’s anniversary and Barack Obama, over @Ricochet.
“Constitutional Law Professor” Barack Obama
A real Constitutional law professor explains the problems with the No Fly List to him.
The Farook Family Arsenal
Yes, the least suspicious thing about their activities was the number of rounds they had on hand. It really isn’t unusual for target shooters. particularly when people are reasonably concerned about supply, do either to intermittent heavy demand demand by law enforcement agencies, or threats of of purchase limits.
The number of pipe bombs and IEDs, on the other hand, is quite atypical.
