You’re probably shifting out of your lane too soon.
Driving back from Yosemite on Thursday, Caltrans had shut down the right three (out of four) lanes on I-5 in Castaic. We lost one lane at a time, and the first merge was the slowest. Each next one sped things up, until we were all in a single lane, and moving at a reasonable speed. Part of the problem was that much of the traffic in the right lane was trucks (we were already in the left lane when the backup started). It added about twenty minutes to the trip time.
An interesting discussion between Jordan Peterson and Vivek Ramaswami. This seems very weird to me: “…most people are a little slower reading than listening, and that means they are really capable of absorbing more complex material than they’re willing or able to read.”
I’m just the opposite. I don’t have the patience to listen to someone tell me something, and I don’t retain information well that I take in through my ears. It’s why I hated lectures in college, particularly when they were just repeating the textbook, which I could read myself much faster.
I wonder if this is Olive Garden policy, or just that restaurant?
Anyway, I’m sure that the same people who demand that we agree with their mental infirmities also demand “trigger warnings” if we’re going to say something they’ll disagree with.
