The Republicans need to win a significant majority of both Houses and then keep the White House in 2028 *and*2032 for any of this to be much more than ephemeral.
If the Republicans lose the house in 2026, Congress will be nothing but a stream of endless impeachment proceedings.
If the Democrats win the House and Senate they will, having planned ahead, remove Trump and Vance and install whoever wins the Speakership in the Presidency. That person will then appoint a VP. I’ll be 76 if I’m still alive in January 2027. Them the election in 2028. I think Trump can run again under the current rules.
Not unless they win a 2/3 majority in the Senate, which I believe is mathematically impossible.
