Crazy Busy

Posting has been light because we had to repipe the house at the same time as we were scheduling painting the exterior, and the plumber had to break a lot of stucco to run the Pex. (The copper pipes were installed in the slab when the house was built almost half a century ago, and the hot water started leaking in it, and it was judged better to repipe rather than tear up concrete to repair it when it was likely to just develop another leak).

We got the stucco redone yesterday, and are doing everything else necessary for the painters, who are coming tomorrow for a walk through. And when that’s all done, there’s a lot of drywall to patch, and repainting inside (not to mention having to remove a lot of ceiling popcorn).

          1. Nice. I am renting a place so I use a Lifestraw countertop filter dispenser. I have a number of allergies and sensitivities. The difference from the ways my body reacts to city water and even bottled spring water is palpable. I will take a filter with me whenever I travel.

          2. I use a zero water to filter the water for coffee but it is about a wash between buying filters vs buying a new Keurig every couple years.

  1. My wife and I had our house replumbed in 2020. The house was only 8 years old, but the plumbing subcontractor used known defective and recalled tubing when the house was built. They should be in jail. They did this to whole neighborhoods. I hate slab foundations.

    1. My next-door neighbor had to do the same thing with a house built in 2005, though I don’t think it was through a slab foundation. Regardless of where the plumbing was, if it was Chinese copper from that era, it developed pinhole leaks, and had to be replaced.

      1. Our original plumbing was a composite but I don’t remember the name. It had been recalled a year before our house was built. The stuff we have now is much better.
