  1. But even more than that, if the American people vote for a policy platform in the person of a President, they should get what they voted for.
    Good and hard.
I couldn’t help reading the article and mentally substituting “NYC Mayor” for “President”. It generated some giggles.

    1. I was thinking of starting a protest movement to rename the salutation of the Officer of NYC Mayor from “Your Honor” to “Dear Leader”.

        1. The Ripley solution. It would unfortunately get rid of most of the US seaports.

Oh. I just googled it. There’s a company called Ripley Solutions. That seems a kind of unfortunate name for a real-world company.

  2. Democrats will agree with this when they win the next election and then when they lose, it will be you cant touch the federal workforce.

While right now, Democrats do operate as the borg, there isnt a deep state. There are deep states. Lots of factions, sometimes working in concert but also working alone. A lot of bad things can happen in this environment, like Fauci paying for China to make a plague. With so many federal workers the possibilities are endless and they wont be limited to just doing things the DNC or Obama wants.

    1. About the only saving grace of the current trainwreck is that it is a trainwreck- there are so damn many cliques, cabals, old-boy-networks, conspiracies, interest groups, and straight-on grifters that no one of them is ascendant for very long. All of them backstabbing any of their temporary allies at the first opportunity.

Our fatigue with this cr*p is a large part of the enthusiasm for DOGE and ICE- at least those are clearly take-out-the-garbage processes that, while rough around the edges, are mostly focused on cleanup. Politics is a hoarder home that needs a trashbin in the driveway and a team in hazmat suits filling it up.

Or the movie adaptation thereof. “Clear & Present Danger” comes readily to mind…

    2. Generally correct in ordinary – i.e., pre-Trump – times, but you neglect the Maslovian Hierarchy of Needs anent the current situation. With the RIF buzzsaw whirling as the government shutdown continues, even plotting treasonous, or merely corrupt, mischief will take a backseat to job preservation – if possible. And, if not, improvising some sort of parachute from found materials. The MAGA Huns, God bless ’em, are over the wall and doing their bloody business.

  3. Those protests yesterday were successful!

Whoever was tying to declare itself King yesterday didn’t succeed, because this morning, it seems Trump is still President!

(And “No Kings” sounds like some sort of stripped deck card game.)

  4. Freedom of speech and the right to peaceful assembly is in the first amendment. Also, my opinion that all they did was prove they’re a bunch of idiots is part of freedom of speech.
