Elon Musk says “universal high income” is coming
Elon Musk set off a fresh firestorm this week by declaring that people will not need to save money in the future because artificial intelligence will eliminate poverty and usher in “universal high income.”
Responding on X to billionaire Ray Dalio’s praise of new “Trump Accounts” that seed $1,000 investment accounts for newborns, Musk called the initiative a “nice gesture” but said, “There will be no poverty in the future and so no need to save money. There will be universal high income.”

See? Nothing to worry about we will all be “rich” and not have to save money or work. No more working at a job you hate (swing-shifts) for pay and benefits. I assume your health benefit would be part of said Universal high income.
This is from the guy who thought he could “fix” the Federal government and now is said to be sulking that the government is “unfixable.”
Where did he get the idea that there wouldn’t be stiff resistance against the kind of fixing he had in mind? Did he ever spend any time on a university campus in the U.S., recently?
Meh. Good luck with that. We certainly aren’t going to live forever even if normal aging and death are eliminated. Accidents will always cull. There are always bad actors who will kill people for various reasons including ideology. See Bondi Beach.
Society may become VERY risk averse and with no time pressure how will we ever get anything done?
I think we would see a completely degenerate society.
