  1. It could (but almost certainly won’t) be an interesting bully pulpit for the SecDHS to frequently remind people that they travel at their own risk, are their own best defense, and should prepare accordingly, including getting first-responder training and hand-to-hand combat instruction in a simulated airplane cabin.

  2. Yeah, I’d find it a bit more interesting if they had a close combat drill between the attendants, or perhaps a choke-hold demonstration.

  3. maybe we could get a necrophiliac to go with the child molesters and other sick cases the Obama Administration feels most comfortable with.

  4. There;s something about Napolitano’s remarks that stanbd out in my mind. Recall the famous quote:

“And one thing I’d like to point out is that the system worked. Everybody played an important role here. The passengers and crew of the flight took appropriate action. Within literally an hour to 90 minutes of the incident occurring, all 128 flights in the air had been notified to take some special measures in light of what had occurred on the Northwest Airlines flight. We instituted new measures on the ground and at screening areas, both here in the United States and in Europe, where this flight originated.”

She’s identifying random citizens as part of the system. Random citizens roughing up perps. This has to be some kind of leftist heresy.

Of course, the only part of the system she addressed was the response – not prevention, which is DHS’s nominal reason to exist.

When guys with known terrorist connections can get on a plane and Cat Stevens can’t, something is not working.

  5. I’m with Rand on this one. If and when Janet leaves, I would not be at all surprised to learn that Obama installed some left-wing Chicago crony in the position.

Whenever some fool says, “It can’t get any worse than this! the gods begin to chuckle ..

  6. On the other hand, not firing her sends a terrible message – failure doesn’t matter. It’s better to fire her than not.
