  1. Protesting against a Congressman, now a federal crime.

Hey, if the 2nd and 10th Amendments don’t mean anything; no reason to expect the 1st Amendment to have any value.

  2. Former PBS viewer and contributor who cannot stomach the network anymore. It frightens me how pre internet and Youtube the MSM completely controlled the narrative with burgeoning Talk Radio the only alternative viewpoint. Were some less progressive spokesperson to make a similar but opposite total mis-statement of fact he/she would be touted as a constant symbol of ignorance or lying.

  3. I’ve argued this and shown the voting record to about two dozen liberal, Democrat southerners over the years. I used to carry it IN MY WALLET! It seemingly made no difference to them, or they had reasons why the Dems of old were different from the new ones. To which I say bull…

I’ve had a few tell me, I’d been duped by the media, after showing them the Congressional record.

Too which several said, “…AND!? What’s your point?”

How for up your @$$ is your head when you think the Congressional Record is a conservative media outlet!? About as far up there as it must be to vote for the crowd that controls the WH and both houses of Congress, I guess.

God help you, if you remind them that Abraham Lincoln was a Republican.

  4. Wait, saying that Republicans opposed Social Security and Medicare is “slandering Republicans”? But you oppose Social Security and Medicare, and think everyone else should as well. How is giving the GOP more credit than they deserve “slandering” them?

  5. Larry Elder has an interesting essay this week on Townhall.com

It is out of the question to expect people, families and communities to plan for retirement. It is beyond reason to expect medical care, like any other commodity, to follow the laws of supply and demand — for prices and choices to allocate resources and for competition to drive down prices and improve quality. It is simply too much to expect the compassion, morality and spirituality of humankind to aid those unable to care for themselves.

  6. How is giving the GOP more credit than they deserve “slandering” them?

How did he “give them more credit than they deserve”? It was his intent to show that they opposed popular programs that they didn’t, at least as much as he wanted to admit. So, yes, he was attempting to reduce their standing in the public eye (i.e., slandering them).

  7. I liked Instapundits line during his Jonah Goldberg interview, “Watch out for the libertarians, they’ll take over the gov’t and…….LEAVE YOU ALONE!” **Shreeeeaaaakkk

  8. “But you oppose Social Security and Medicare, and think everyone else should as well.”

How many times has Rand said he’s not a Republican? 10? 15? A large number of times.

How many times has Jim been obtuse? 10? 15? A large number of times

Lehrer was giving them less credit than he knew they deserved. He knows how many Republicans supported the Civil Rights Act, SS and MC. He also knows why Goldwater opposed it. I can’t be that generous to a “journalist” in the business for what, 40 years.

    .

  9. How did he “give them more credit than they deserve”?

He credited GOP legislators with having your position on Social Security and Medicare, which you naturally consider superior to the position they actually hold. Why would you think it was slander (rather than undeserved praise) for Lehrer to falsely accuse Republicans of agreeing with you?

How many times has Rand said he’s not a Republican? 10? 15? A large number of times.

Bill, I didn’t write anything to suggest that Rand is a Republican. Read more carefully.

  10. He credited GOP legislators with having your position on Social Security and Medicare, which you naturally consider superior to the position they actually hold.

    OK.

Once again, you’ve demonstrated yourself to be a moron.

The issue in slander isn’t what I think about their position. It’s about what the public thinks.

  11. Lehrer’s not that stupid. He was around back then, and knows exactly who supported and who opposed civil rights. He’s being deliberately dishonest. Carrying water for the Obama junta. Kyl and others should start calling “journalists” like him on their lies, every single time.
