Probably. I’d be pretty surprised to learn that she agreed with Heller, for instance. I have to say, I’m in no big hurry to see Stevens replaced, because any of Obama’s nominees are likely to be disastrous for decades. This was in fact the biggest reason to prefer McCain in 2008 — to prevent, or at least mitigate, such long-lasting damage to liberty.

None of which matters, because as Sotomayor demonstrated, all she has to do is give the right answers regardless of her actual views and she’s on the bench.
Of course she’s anti gun. One need only look at her demographic and professional background to know this. In addition, Obama knows her personally from the U. of C. and would not have appointed her if he had any reason to think she might a hold a position counter to his on a major issue, and he is anti-gun.
Having the least seniority on the court would mean she’d be responsible for getting coffee for the old duffers and have zero ability to manipulate the other justices. Stevens strength was as senior justice, he was able to speak to all the justices immediately after the chief justice does on a case. Kagan won’t have the same ability to corral Kennedy to the left like Stevens did so regularly and effectively.
The only real downside to having her is that since she is so young, she will outlive the others and eventually be senior justice in a few decades like Stevens is now, and will then have the same opportunity to influence rulings and will be able to do so for as long as she wants to sit on the court after that point.
Given her opposition to military recruiters at Harvard, the fact she IS Harvard, and oh yeah, is Harvard, pretty much rules that she’s anti-gun and generally anti-property-rights in general, as well as anti-national-security. She’s also anti-first amendment and thinks its okay to ban books, socialize the media, and outlaw opinions she doesnt agree with. I can’t imaging that she’ll get approved, but then again this is the Senate we’re talking about. Obama knows this is his one chance to get a real radical on the court before the mid term elections nix that possibility. It will be interesting to see which republicans he bribes for their votes and what he will bribe them with. I predict it will be Olympia Snowe in the Oval Office with a bailout for the Maine fishing industry.
