  1. My reading of the Politico article leaves me with the impression that the author still believes that Obama is somehow just too good, too honest, too smart or some similar positive attribute, to be a successful President. He specifically states that O is “smart as a whip”, although there is no evidence to prove that. He also states that as a constitutional professor Obama “actually knows what the Constitution says”, when there is little evidence for that either.

He then goes on to state “His opponents have no such fetters. They know what they want the Constitution to say: yes to guns..” Well duh, the Constitution does indeed say “yes to guns” so what is his point?

The article may not be good for Obama, but it certainly isn’t written from the perspective of someone who disagrees fundamentally with what Obama stands for.

  2. I’ve seen no real evidence that he’s smart. His early speeches were well done – did he write them? Did he provide the guiding light to the writers? We’ve never seen transcripts or records of his education.

The Greek columns at the acceptance speech was a pretty big clue that this guy is about facade and not substance. Piled onto that was the podium sign “Office of the President-elect”

To be fair, though, high intelligence is not an indicator of political savvy. Nor is medium intelligence an indicator of lack of that savvy. Now he (or his team) is pretty good at crafting political cuts at his opponents. And they are the Masters at the false premise.

But I’m convinced by a mass – two year’s worth – of circumstantial evidence that he knows that the things he does are against public wishes. He knows that the things he does limit his chance at a second term. I do believe he’s smart enough to know that his moves are not going to fix the economy.

And I’m convinced he simply doesn’t care. The objective is to get in place as much socialism and handouts to the public as possible. Even if it costs him the election.

Because he knows that once in place, those things are almost impossible to remove. And he knows that the wheel turns and someday the Social-Dems will be in power once more and they will build on that foundation.

  3. My personal “oh frack” moment was the speech at KSC and the “been there” comment (the tang comment was pretty damn stupid as well). There was no reason n earth why he had to say that and alienate a full half of folks that support NASA and HSF.

In the span of 15 seconds he killed any chance that the FY2011 budget for NASA would get to his desk intact. He made the job of anyone who supported that proposal incredibly difficult, and it was all for the opportunity to toss off a one-liner.

He lost me then and there. I know most of you were opposed to his presidency from the get go, but those of us who weren’t, I think most are dumbfounded at his ineptness since the election.

  4. People who lack wisdom often confuse innate intelligence with wisdom. They are not the same. I suggest that the questions to ask are, “Is the President lacking wisdom? Why?”

  5. Obama smart? Let’s look at the evidence. Yes, he is well spoken when it’s confined to rhetoric. Don’t know if the teleprompter words are his own.

In contrast, he’s shown that on substantive issues he’s self-contradictory; a symptom of someone who has failed to give serious prior thought to his positions. He utterly failed in selling Govt Healthcare to the populace with approval for the bill droping steadily after each ‘town meeting’. He has shown no personal innovation in any of his political positions, continuing roughly the Bush policies in the Middle East and in lack of border enforcement at home. Showed nothing but confusion and panic over the BO oil spill such that een his rump swabs were chagrined. His vaunted Trillion dollar plus economic recovery program….

You get the idea. All his intellectual accomplishments, Harvard, Editor of the Law Review (but with NO articles published of his own) are most likely awards via affirmative action, not personal scholarship. I’ll retract this if someone publishes a list of the courses he took and his grades.

  6. He also states that as a constitutional professor Obama “actually knows what the Constitution says”, when there is little evidence for that either.

It wouldn’t surprise me to find out Obama actually does know what the Constitution says. However, it seems obvious that he’s stone cold stupid about what the Constutition means.

  7. I wasn’t turned off by by anything he said but instead at the moment I saw that cheeseball smile of his. Maybe its just cause I know too many sales people and have sees that smile once too many times before. But that smile just screams slimy salesman all the way. There was a lady I visited with not long ago and in her office she had a picture of herself standing next to Obama at a Dallas fundraiser. There he was with that exact…same…smile…he always has. He’s nothing but a phony cut out, a poseable fraud, and an empty suited charlatan. He’s like the Cheshire cat grinning away and at first interesting and different. Until he starts spouting frustrating nonsense and then the headache kicks in.

  8. Wisdom is the means to effectively and properly apply intelligence.

That is what the mimic-in-chief is lacking.

  9. Josh,

When a phony smiles, usually they do not use their eyes. A real smile goes up to the eyes.

  10. EXACTLY!

Yep, I was in a class a Head Criminal Investigator was teaching two weeks ago and this and other body language and voice cues were covered.

  11. Thanks for the link, mpthompson. I didn’t read any of the comments (if there are any) but I assume Daveon checked in with his usual “*sob* *choke* Please . . . *sob* LEAVE OBAMA ALONE!” type comments/

  12. OK, if you are talking about Obama’s smile, this is pretty creepy.

Like a mask. An inhuman thing disguised as a human. Who would have caught that before the days of the internet?
