  1. As usual, when I try to watch a PJTV video, I get “Thanks for watching the complimentary PJTV videos. To continue watching PJTV videos you will need to register” – but no complimentary video first. I don’t often even try anymore – your talk looked interesting enough to give it another whirl. Oh well.

I’ve dinked with my Opera settings a couple of times to no avail – I assume PJTV doesn’t do this to everyone – but frankly I don’t care much anymore. (And no, it’ll be a cold day in hell before I’ll register for a service that doesn’t even care enough about my time to get their free samples right.)

  2. Henry, I also get the “you’ve used up all your free PJTV views so please subscribe”. I let it roll, and after the bleg, Rand’s interview popped right up. It’s on pause right now, I’m trying to buffer it so I don’t get hiccups in the playback.

I may yet subscribe to PJTV but I’m looking for the free option first.

  3. Nope – nothing to let roll, in what I get. just a block of static text in a blank box on the screen.

I’ve tried to get some interest in fixing this from PJTV a couple times, and never gotten a response of any sort.

  4. Cool.

Update: the spam filter says my comment was too short? Christ on a pogo stick.

    Mind-blowingly prothagnotically ungatroidilly cool.

    Fnord.

  5. Next time look at the camera more 🙂

If we really did a total reorganization of NASA, how do you think the internet debate would compare to what has gone on over the last few years?

Any ideas on how NASA or whomever is President could mitigate some of the outrage and hurt feelings as well as harness the energy for building support?

    (sorry for the double post)

  6. iirc von Braun had a choice. He could propose a direct to the moon smash n grab (Apollo), or a more gradual effort, including orbital stations, refuelling, transfer vehicles, etc but in order to meet the dicta Kennedy of the ‘end of this decade’ smash and grab it was. How different it might’ve been if Kennedy had said ‘by the end of next decade’…

  7. Henry, if you really want to watch it, might I suggest a different browser than Opera…? I have nothing against Opera, but sometimes a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do…

Also, the registration is free, AFAIK. I’ve never paid to watch a PJTV video.

  8. I can’t even explain what about PJTV registration makes me rage so hard. I even registered at Pixiv a few days ago, but PJTV is where I draw the line.

  9. I registered for PJTV just fine although I was worried I might run afoul of their liberal Democrat filter.

Anyway, I agree about the eyes but Rand is right, he got better at it as the segment progressed.

All in all a succinct and accurate interview, at least IMHO.

  10. btw I think you only get 12 sample videos total, for all time if you remain unregistered. Registration is free though. I subscribed recently because I like to be able to see some of the members-only content, and go back to old archived videos that are unavailable without a subscription.

And 5$ a month is a pretty rockin’ deal. I love Afterburner and Frontpage.

  11. This was a pretty intense interview as well, 11 minutes isn’t a walk in the park. The subject matter isn’t so easy to talk to extemporaneously. So kudos. Was this your first video interview?

  12. So kudos. Was this your first video interview?

My first in many years, and it clearly shows. I’ve done a lot of Space Show audio interviews though. But understand, I am very familiar and comfortable with the subject matter. It’s not like he’s asking me about export policy.

    Anyway, thanks.

  13. Rand – my time to dink with different browsers when the one I use is otherwise fine is not free. Nor is “free” registration free; it requires I provide information that they consider of value else they’d not request it, and that I also consider of value else I’d be a whole lot more casual about providing it.

If PJTV wants me to sample their wares, they’ll make their site work with Opera. So far, they don’t seem to care. Shrug. Not a sign of an organization destined to make the big time, I’d say. TMMV.

  14. Actually, what I find distasteful about PJTV and that other similar site is that they seem to be deadset on chasing away all the “liberals” or even undecided before they even get to the content. I have to assume they like preaching to the choir cause they’re certainly not going to change anyone’s opinion.

  15. Good job, Rand!

Trent, PJTV was put together specifically to be a counter-weight to the liberal MSM. The reason your probably having a hard time with it is because your eyes and ears are to accustomed to having everything passed through the liberal progressive filter first. Yet, you somehow are turning this around on PJTV like they are the ones not being fair and balanced enough. There is a sea of liberal media outlets and you decry one of the few conservative outlets; really fair and balanced.

  16. Rand,

My favorite part was your first word, “Indeed,” in response to Glenn talking about the backgrounds.

  17. My favorite part was your first word, “Indeed,” in response to Glenn talking about the backgrounds.

Actually, they edited it somewhat. Right after that, I noted that unless we got a better Congress, it was the only way we were going to float among the stars, to which Glenn replied, “well that’s a cheery thought.” But they snipped that out for some reason.

  18. I find Trent’s comment amusing, since the topic of the video is, if not a support of the Obama space policy, certainly a rebutal of the republican proposals.
