I still say we ought to get you put in charge of NASA. I’m sure it would be quite interesting.
Rand is too sane for that. And not nearly enough of a cut-throat. A close friend of mine who works in TS contract work for various government agencies told me that the politics inside NASA are by far the nastiest of any government department he deals with.
If they are “the most vicious and bitter form of politics” it is no doubt because “the stakes are so low.”
Sure, TTM readers care about space, but government as a whole does not.
I just found an interesting element buried in section 1103 of the 2010 Authorization. Like the Aldridge Comission Report, it opens up the door to reorganize NASA centers as FFRDCs. Bolden should jump on that.
