Couldn’t Happen To A Nicer Guy

Khadaffi flees LibyaTripoli? I wonder if he had time to grab his female body guards (always seemed such an odd thing in such a misogynistic culture).

Anyway, let’s hope it’s so, though what replaces is always worrisome in a place like that. And my preference would have been incineration in the burning parliament. That would be a more fitting and permanent solution to that particular boil on the ass of humanity.

[Update a few minutes later]

A reminder from Michael Totten of how awful he is.

  1. I’m pretty sure the female body guards had other duties as well. Note that none of them are remotely average-looking women.

  2. The “gun girls” are an artifact of the Arab nationalism that was prevalent from the 50’s through the 70’s. Qaddafi, like Nasser and everyone else of his generation, were Arab nationalists, which was fairly liberal is some ways.

  3. Looking at a video of a few “gun girls” (escorting Gaddafi on what appears to be a state visit), I didn’t see an obvious sign that most of them had significant bodyguard training. Some seemed alert and profession while others did not. The most professional of them (with I might the build, look, and awareness, one would normally expect from a bodyguard) seemed to be spending most of her time minding the other women guards.

But my view is that these are probably the real thing even if poorly trained and the reason is due to the very misogynist nature of the Libyan society. I figure anyone who tries to kill Gaddafi has a good chance of injuring or killing one of those woman guards instead. That, along with some helpful propaganda, would immortalize them as a woman-killer. They might also have trouble collecting on the 72 virgins (if they’re of that flavor of Islam), if they martyr themselves while killing a woman.
