  1. I think this is the right link.

The best commentary I’ve seen began with (and I paraphrase) “consider how often the media is wrong about your line of work before following the media stories about the nuclear problems in Japan”. At that point, I learned to stop worrying.

  2. Fear the linkfail more. 🙁 Seems to be an equals sign after the “target” and before the “_ ” in the link to the story.

  3. media meltdowns

But the Media’s rods have been exposed for sometime now. How can we ever forget the graphic imagery of “I felt this thrill up my leg”?

  4. I saw this on another web site:

“The MSM can’t tell the difference between a Glock and a Kalashnikov and people think they’re going to get the story right on nuclear physics? “

  5. According to the IAEA, peak radiation at Fukishima was 400 millisievert per hour. According to this site, that’s 40 REM / hour.

40 REM an hour means radiation sickness in about three hours. It’s a major dose.

Fortunately, the IAEA is seeing levels fall to more like 1 REM / hour. (Scroll up and down on the IAEA link.) That’s the good news.

The bad news is 1 REM per YEAR is considered the maximum annual dose for a nuclear plant worker.

I’m in favor of nuclear power, but no matter how you slice it, this is a major accident.

  6. Note that the peak 400 millisievert per hour dose was if you were standing between Unit 3 and Unit 4.

I suggest people don’t do that. In fact, I suggest you stand outside the boundary fence where the dose will be far lower.

How dare you offer succinct and rational advice!
