  1. They need to change their model: don’t bother selling the mag, just distribute free to dental offices and make it up on the ad space. Cut labor costs by having an intern ctrl-c/ctrl-v junk from TPM — no one will know the diff.

  2. Everything Tina Brown has ever published can be summed up in two sentences:

Become a leftist. All the celebrities are.

  3. Seriously?

There was, or is, no room in American print media for a(nother) upper crust, nose in the air, head up the arse, uber liberal, half-truth news magazine? If the reviewer is to be believed, they didn’t bash Sarah Palin at all. There’s just no way to run any 21st Century news outlet unless you bash Sarah Palin. I’m shocked, shocked to find that someone gambled on the whole idea of reviving Newsweek without Palin bashing!

And they didn’t seem to be worshiping at the altar of Obama either. That’s never going to work in the current MSM set up, now, is it? The other folks of media simply won’t allow it.

Let’s face it, Newsweek sucked 20 years ago. It was pretentious and stuffy THEN. I’m well read, I get and understand big words and I love studying the etymology of words. But it always seemed to me that you needed a dictionary to read the damned thing. With literally thousands of places to get news immediately, in plain English, no one wants to get stuffy news magazines delivered at home, that’s about last weeks news. Print may be dying now, the way town criers died out.

IMHO, the only decent magazine out there is Mad Magazine! It’s still on the cutting edge of news and information!! Long live Alfred E. Neuman.

    (nudge, nudge, wink, wink)

  4. Just for the record it’s Sidney Harman, founder of Harman-Kardon, the hi-fi speaker company, and husband of former US Rep Jane Harman D-CA.

Did I just date myself by using the term “hi-fi”?

  5. No Mike, you didn’t. When they started making those crazy, great speakers, Hi-Fi was the WiFi of it’s day!!
