  1. When the leaders of powerful nations have lots of military toys to play with, they find an excuse to play.

Which is why China’s armaments build up is a worry

  2. Sorry “we’re not going back to the Moon because we’ve been there, buzz has been there” will remain the moment I first facepalmed to the Obama.. clearly that wasn’t written on the teleprompter.

  3. I should have qualified that statement. Kissinger was a success – for the North Vietnamese.

From an American standpoint, military success means (in part) bringing down a tyrannical regime and replacing it with one less tyrannical. Korea was a stalemate, Vietnam a total defeat (we surrendered via Kissinger), Gulf War 1 a marginal victory (Saddam booted from Kuwait but not from Iraq). Can’t think of any other UN-authorized conflicts right off hand.

UN peacekeeping missions are another story. The UN doesn’t run UN-sanctioned wars – it runs peacekeeping missions. They are designed to serve as a deterrent, and often a weak one – a wussy alternative to Beating The Bad Guys. Waste. Total waste.

  4. Alan, nonsense. From an American military standpoint, success means replacing an uncooperative leader (even if he was democratically elected) with a cooperative leader (even if he’s a dictator). The goal being to *secure the interests of the US*. Only liberal douchebags feel the need to apologize for it.

  5. Tent, very shallow thinking, pro American thugs get replaced with anti American thugs, you’re using the same selfish short term thinking that congress uses on NASA.

  6. no problem Andrew. Yes, invading other countries or messing with their internal politics is bad and the US shouldn’t do it.. but they do, and its not for “humanitarian” reasons or whatever crap they’ve made up this week to feed the home front.

  7. Trent W,
I’m still trying to find out about today, it’s…let’s say… 9:20 on Sunday night, what’s the MOST current reason? And ‘this week’ seems an awfully broad term for a ‘kinetic military wang dang doodle’.

On Thursday alone, Obama, Gates and Hitlary had three different reason and four probable outcomes. None of which included killing or chasing Gadaffijklmnopqr…you get the idea…killing or chasing that guy with the crazy name outta Libya.

(yes, I called it a ‘wang dang doodle’, if THEY can change the name of w@r, so can I)

  8. OT, sort of…if you are at all interested in the terror attacks on us, and if you are looking for a good read. Go get a copy of,

This book lays out, and verifies, the connection between McVeigh & Nichols, Ramzi Yousef (he built the TWC bomb in 1993), Osama bin Laden, the Abu Sayyaf in the Philippines, the worldwide Islamic Terror Organization in general, 9/11 and various people of Radical Islamic background who are STILL wandering America freely!

    For instance, Hussain Al-Hussaini

It proves in countless ways how Janet Reno, Bill Clinton and numerous Congress critters in those days and numerous Federal Offals since then, including GWB, his administration and Congress, combined with the current WH goon squad, have ALL ignored the true facts of the case.

If you’ve ever thought that the reports about the OK City bombing were not quite right, or if you never believed that two disgruntled country bumpkins could pull off that attack, THIS is the book to read.
