I still picture Newt best serving as the éminence grise behind the big chair. Perhaps the modern equivalent of a minister without portfolio, aka trained attack dog. But at this point I’ll vote for whoever the GOP puts up next November.
I agree, Newt might be better as the power behind the throne — Merlin rather than King Arthur. But at the moment, the Republicans don’t have an Arthur, and our system of government doesn’t provide for a position of Court Wizard.

Everyone has baggage. Somehow Obama’s skeletons stayed in the closet and it wouldn’t be surprising if they did again while Newt is raked over the coals with CNN and MSNBC running Newt “biography” stories.
Maybe Newt can get his baggage stuck in the luggage-sorting machinery at Denver International Airport.
