I believe the cliche’ (oft used against vocal civil libertarians) is, “if they did nothing wrong, they have nothing to fear.”
He can always try the Michael Mann argument, “my correspondence to the Treasury Department, while working at DOJ, are private.” He’s already tried the “Bush did it too” argument.
