  1. It’s important I think not to confuse freedom with necessary restrictions on freedom. The definition of freedom is simple. You can choose to do anything nature allows. So harm is where you need to focus. Harm is something a community decides and should err on the side of freedom. It’s important for freedom that you can freely change your community if their standards aren’t a good fit for the individual.

    Hypocrisy is just hypocrisy: easily recognized when exposed. Often declared when it doesn’t exist. Light is the best disinfectant.

    Too few today would say, “Give me liberty or give me death,” and mean it.

  2. Even though I’m mostly pro choice and mostly anti death penalty, I have always found it annoying when people accuse conservatives of hypocrisy for being “pro-life” and pro death penalty. Can they really not see that there might be a difference in someone’s view?

    (also, the term “pro-life” is probably not helping matters due to its larger implications)

      It’s like saying someone who supports the practice of criminal fines is anti-property rights.
