Conducting diversity training and government employment are two of the big career paths for those “angry studies” graduates. Eliminating diversity training would make their degrees even more worthless. Who in their right mind would want to bring a certified malcontent into their organization?
Diversity training = Two Minute Hate.

Back when I was a working stiff, I wouldn’t have minded ‘diversity training’ if it had been done from the stand point of and for each race. But it was invariably done from a ‘hey, white folks, stop being racists’, point of view.
I found it galling to be considered, and for that matter convicted and in need of rehabilitation, without any proof or complaints of being racist.

I have a lot of black friends and acquaintances, so when I read the story I thought of what I would have contributed to the “facts about blacks.” The only ones I came up with are that they have darker skin than I usually (but not always) do, and their hair is highly elliptical in cross section and thus curls naturally. And that’s it. I couldn’t come up with another one that would fit all of the black people that I know and don’t know. Eye color? Though I don’t recall anything but brown, I can’t say for sure.
As far as facts go, that’s it. What else is there?
What else is there? Why there is, of course, all the stuff that falls under the heading of, “…it’s a ‘black’ thing…”.
I used to have an AA traveling partner who swore that was code for, we don’t really give a sh1t about anyone or anything but ME / US.
He was a college graduate, working on a Masters in Animal Science. His dad was an engineer for Firestone, his mother was a school teacher. Needless to say, he didn’t get the typical late 20th Century, AA no family, where’s dad, street thug is cool upbringing. So maybe he just didn’t get what being ‘black’ was all about?
I’ve always found it strange that the ‘stereotyping’ that whites supposedly do concerning African-Americans, is EXACTLY what’s cool to both young AA’s AND many young non-AA’s. Is it art imitating stupidity? Or stupidity imitating itself?
Yup. The other side of “diversity training” is preferential treatment for groups favoured by PC; hence the sarcastic saying in the UK that if you want a government admin job (even more so in local government) and you aren’t a one-legged black lesbian, forget it. Strangely enough, white heterosexual men are quite welcome in jobs such as rubbish collection and cleaning sewers.
My town flies the rainbow flag (celebrating homosexuality) from the Town Hall at all times, and has a yearly week-long event called Gay Pride Week, culminating in a parade that shuts down major shopping streets on a Saturday. I have no doubt at all what would happen to anyone who dared suggest a “Straight Pride Week”.
