      1. All government agencies are murderers (or perhaps it’s just manslaughter depending on intent.) Some are just better than others.

Government interference costs lives. This indicates our evil nature.

Economic laws save lives. You have to wonder what we did to deserve such blessings. I believe we don’t, but have a loving creator. YMMV.

  1. There may well be a third bureaucracy in the mass-murderer camp; I don’t know who performs the function I’m about to mention. Non-drug therapies (such as a change of diet) are also subject to the “double-blind controlled clinical trials” mantra. Try as I might, I can’t figure out how to conduct such a trial for a change of diet.

Examples of problems for which such a change is effective include type II diabetes, syndrome X, rheumatoid arthritis and candidiasis. The last one of those is especially annoying because candidiasis is caused, in the vast majority of cases, by internal flora imbalances caused in turn by those “safe” drugs such as antibiotics and corticosteroids.

Which, to my cynical mind, explains why conventional medicine doesn’t recognise that condition at all until you are dying of it, with candida rampant in the blood.

  2. Another killer is the near death of the light plane industry. If you see a light plane now, it is almost certainly either an antique or a homebuilt, neither of which will average as safe as a modern factory built aircraft.
