  1. Yes, that was very interesting. I’m surprised they’re not also hitting it with all the new anti-viral drugs developed from AIDS research. If, as he suspects, the virus causes too much brain activity, surely samples taken from rats could be measured for various neurotransmitters throughout the course of infection. We can suppress many of those with common drugs.

    As the article said, it seems we quit studying the disease very much once we had a workable vaccine.

  2. This is a good example of how real science is practiced. Study what is known about an issue, come up with an idea, test it, encourage others to try it, generate disscussion, etc.
    It is also a good example of how to report on science.
