China is still ramping up electricity generation and they are doing this with coal because they have lots of it. However they are also investing in all other electricity generation schemes like hydroelectric (e.g. Three Gorges Dam) and nuclear power. They are Westinghouse Nuclear’s largest client.
China is also going big time for methanol synthesis using low grade coal
