  1. Is anyone aware of any published research regarding amount of debris that might be launched at greater than martian escape velocity? Would this impact have the potential of making the inner solar system a rather dangerous region in which to travel for the next few millenia?

    1. I was under the impression that there were Martian rocks found in Antarctica – suggesting they were blown off of Mars by some cataclysm.

      1. There are quite a few (20+) meteorites of almost certain Mars origin, including the Allan Hills one that’s both the oldest known rock of any sort ever found, anywhere, (over 4 billion years old) and the source of the very interesting electron microscope pics of what could be fossilized bacteria-type structures. It, like all the others, was blasted off Mars by an impact.

An impact on the scale of Siding Spring would definitely boost some ejecta past Mars escape velocity, which is less than half of Earth’s.

    1. Thanks for the link Rick, which brought me to this old article. Rand, you were so poetic in your youthful days.

When investors can’t be sure they’re going to hold clear title to their investment, it makes it that much harder to persuade them to invest.

Considering how governments think pure theft as in the Cypress haircuts is ok, isn’t it about time we made government irrelevant? We do not need their blessing to assert the natural right to claim property owned by nobody. This funds everything else. Today.

Ownership, property rights, contract law, individual freedom, no fractional banking and only enough government for the common defense. 100 sq. km. is a township and no politician can be a ‘leader’ beyond those borders.

Theft is punishable by repayment of some multiple of what is stolen until thievery becomes a forgotten concept. Theft by government is punishable by death… that includes anything outside of a mutually agreed contract. There is no such thing as consent of the governed if it’s not in a contract signed by all parties. Taxation (by any name) is theft.

The right to bare arms has nothing to do with individual self defense or hunting which are givens. It’s to keep government in check. The best way to keep government in check is to keep it small and centrally weak.

  2. Odd, the original estimates of its size were 10 to 50 km… It looks like it is shrinking rapidly. Pity…
